Swine Flu (panrikkaaichal)
May 1, 2009
Well, swine flu is in the news. Here is a video clip probing into animal farms that may be the cause for this outbreak. When there is a scare of a pandemic, all eyes focus on the disease.
How did this disease become a pandemic?
Did it originate in a pig farm?
Why did Egypt have to slaughter 350,000 pigs? Wow! Getting rid of 350,000 living things in one stroke would be disturbing probably even to sworn PETA antagonists, leave alone everyone else. First of all, are there that many pigs in a single country? Are that many pigs eaten? If 350,000 in Egypt, then how many in the USA? Europe? China?
I guess they are not really farm animals anymore, because they are the ones being ‘farmed’, like crops. Mass produced. Mass stored. Mass sprayed. And more.
Here is a Youtube video – a CNN news report that speculates on the cause of the pandemic and its possible relationship with the animal mass-farming culture of today.
Let us not make a judgement on mass animal farming. Let us just be aware that animal farming exiss today on a mass scale and is a link in the vast web of commerce in today’s global world. It would be interesting to look at the size of today’s pork market and to see how it has grown since the dawn of mass-pig-farming.
